About Dr. Mitchell H. Saferstein O.D.
Dr. Saferstein is an Optometric Physician in New Jersey. He received his Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry and has been practicing optometry since 1986. His clinical experience includes; Newport Naval Hospital Hadassah, Hospital in Jerusalem Israel, the Boston Optometric Center and the Perkins School for the Blind.
He is involved in diagnosing, treating and managing patients with glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, cataracts, ocular infections and ocular injuries. Dr. Saferstein is licensed in the state of New Jersey for the use of diagnostic and therapeutic medicine. He offers laser surgery consultations for patients interested in LASIK.
Dr Saferstein is dedicated to the treatment of low vision. he lectures to various eye care providers, nurses, gerontologists and visually impaired support groups. He is also a consultant to many nursing homes and rehabilitation centers in northern New Jersey. His mission is to help visually impaired patients of all ages lead independent and productive lives.
Dr. Saferstein is certified to fit all types of contact lenses. He provides care for astigmatis, keratoconus and other hard to fit contact lens patients.
His personalized one-on-one eye examinations offers a thorough assessment of his patient’s visual needs and concerns. He offers a customized treatment plan for each individual patient.
